Creating a brand out of the box

Anthologee! Book Box

Anthologee! Book Box is a startup company that offers a monthly subscription of children’s books with curated titles that promote cultural awareness and highlight diverse characters and themes. The company’s mission is to help children cultivate compassion by piquing their curiosity and interest in people, experiences and ideas that are different from their own. The company wants young readers to feel empowered by finding positive representation on the pages of their books.

The Houston, Texas, company wanted to create a brand that didn’t feel like a typical children’s book subscription.

Founder Sara Eakens came to us with a handful of name ideas. She wanted a name that carried meaning and didn’t feel overly silly. At the same time, she wanted the brand to evoke an excitement to discover and learn.

We created the name Anthologee! The brand name adds a fun, expressive wonder to the word Anthology, which Sara kept going back to.

From there, we developed a logo that carried forward the essence of the company’s vision. Sara wanted a brand that felt high quality and hip, but not trendy. She also leaned toward a rich color palette.

The end result is a logo that features stacked letters and a font that merges classic serifs with fun, rounded swirls. The wordmark is housed in a book frame with a rich bookmark peeking out the bottom.

Sara’s reaction?

“Love, love, love. I love the font and the playfulness of the letters and their placement.”
