Coborn's Oh My Gotta Buy Seal

Coborn’s is a growing retail company that owns 120+ grocery, convenience, liquor and other retail locations throughout the Midwest. Some of their popular grocery store brands include Coborns, Cashwise, Marketplace Foods and Hornbacher’s.

The company wanted to develop a name, look and promotional campaign around an assortment of new signature items and soon-to-be craveable favorites. 

SHIFT

Our first step was to develop a name. The team chose “oh my! gotta buy!” from our list of finalists. The name implies that the product is so delicious, it will trigger an emotionally audible response. The name also includes an urgent call to action. 

From there we designed the brand identifier. We chose an informal, chunky font and a color palette that’s bright, colorful and attention-getting.  

ACCELERATE

The final step was developing a campaign that promoted the first three signature items—a chewy peanut butter cookie dipped in chocolate, maple-infused breakfast sausage and a Chickle on a Stick (chunks of chicken and dill pickles double dipped in batter and deep fried). Oh my!

We developed a line of posters that leaned into fun, bold headlines atop a bright tablecloth pattern. The posters were used as the foundation for digital display ads, social media, print ads, and in-store signage. The campaign launched with strong sales, and the store entered the campaign into the National Grocers Association’s Creative Choice Awards.
