Say you want to tell your out-of-town … or out-of-state … or out-of-planet friends about the St. Cloud region. How would you describe it?
That was the challenge facing the Greater St. Cloud Development Corporation (GSDC). It wanted to nail down what makes our area so amazing, so we have a consistent story to tell when we’re recruiting people or businesses to the area.
To begin, the GSDC asked area residents what they love most about the region. Before long, a common theme emerged: it’s all about growth. People come here because our area is growing, and people stay here because that growth is contagious.
We’re a place of growing community engagement, with one of the highest volunteer rates in the country and a host of cultural events and activities to take part in. Students attend colleges and universities here to grow their knowledge. We host triathlons, races, bike rides, and walks for people to grow in fitness. We grow our wealth and prosperity through a diverse economic base. Countless businesses and entrepreneurs grow their dreams with the help of our educated work force and our Midwestern work ethic. Many respondents said this is a great place to grow and nurture their families.
The result was On the Grow. The GSDC asked us to create an On the Grow logo and a brand story that captures the essence of our region. We created the logo using a box-like “G” that complements the look of GSDC’s logo. The “G” incorporates an upward arrow that represents growth.
As a spin off of the project, we created an ad for the GSDC that highlights our region’s propensity for growth. The ad was placed in Delta Sky magazine, which featured a section on Minnesota.
